Director: Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont
Running time: 98 mins
Certificate: PG

Three young and struggling backstreet musicians hit it big, and shoot to the top of the charts after a near death situation with a music promoter (Cumming). However, the three young lasses find themselves involved in a twisted and elaborate scheme to manipulate their captive young audience by the use of subliminal messages hidden within their music (“I bury Paul” anyone?) The film is based around the original comic strip of the same name and the pussycats? Well, they’re made pussies by the fake cats ears they wear on stage.

In a number of ways, this film an undercover spy/cop tale, like Miss Congeniality (Starring Sandra Bullock) just less clever. To the younger audience, this prissy, glamorous and pink film is great fun. Catchy pop tunes follow the sexy, skimpy outfit wearing girls as they continously run about, displaying very...plastic emotions. This is all eye-candy, and will only offer the adult viewer some clever in jokes the younger children wouldn’t get. It’s well made and considerably watchable, yet annoyingly cliche. You know what’s going to happen before you even switch the DVD on, but even so, this slightly-longer-than-it-should-be-film never dares to insult you, and for that, you must appreciate it.

With a large number of extras, this is an impressive disk, and is more than bearable. The kids will love it, you’ll be able to live with it, but it’ll always be behind your Terminator 2 box set.
