THE USHER AWARDS

WHO WILL WIN?

It's that time of year again, the awards season. We've had the Golden Globes, the SAGS, the BAFTA's, Razzies and many more but none of them are as prestigious as the Oscars. Celebrating it's 74th and moving back to Hollywood into it's new home The Kodak Theatre, the Oscar ceremony is one of the most watched events in the world and this year is no exception. The speeches, the outfits, the stars and don't forget the movies themselves are celebrated in the grandest Hollywood fashion. But who will be this year's winner.

Using the same nominations as the Oscars I am going to give you just one opinion on who I think should go home with one of those shiny little statues, lets see how many I got right....

So there you have it THE USHER awards for 2002. In comparison to the actual Oscars only 7 out of 20 were the same but remember they are Just One Opinion.

As for the Oscars themselves, A Beautiful Mind winning Best Picture was a total crime and Ron Howard as Best Director was not unexpected even though I think he has done better work (Apollo 13).
Still The Lord of the Rings came away with five awards and Peter Jackson and the team still have another two chances with The Two Towers next year and The Return of the King the year after.
I was glad that Jim Broadbent won Best Supporting actor, as it was very close between him and Ian McKellen as my choice. I'm also looking forward to seeing Halle Berry in Monster's Ball when it is released.
Denzel Washington winning Best actor for Training Day was the big win of the night, personally I think he should have won it for The Hurricane, so this year's was deserved. It just goes to show how harmful Poetry can be to your chances of getting an award.

Overall we'll see which movie from this year is remembered more over time, I don't think it will be A Beautiful Mind do you?
