Encounter At Farpoint (Parts 1 & 2)
The new captain of the recently built USS Enterprise-D, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, takes the crew on their first mission: to discover the secret of Farpoint Station. During their journey, they encounter an omnipotent being known as Q, who accuses humanity of barbarism, and places them on trial. Jean-Luc must prove otherwise, or the human race will be annihilated.

Hide and Q
Q places the senior crew of the Enterprise in a war game that pits them against a boar-faced, Napoleonic enemy. Q tries to get Riker to join the ! when he grants him the power of the Q.

Q Who?
Q hurls the Enterprise into the Delta Quadrant and introduces the Federation to a powerful new enemy that may destroy the Alpha Quadrant: the Borg.

Deja Q
In the midst of a crisis involving preventing an asteroid moon from colliding with a populated planet, the Calamarian starts attacking the Enterprise while seeking revenge on a powerless Q who has requested sanctuary.

Qpid
Q places Vash and the senior Enterprise crew in a recreation of Robin Hood and his merry men. True-Q A young intern visiting the Enterprise captures the interest of Q when she starts displaying Q-like powers.

Q-Less
Q arrives on DS9 fresh from exploring the Gamma Quadrant with Vash. Soon afterwards, power fluctuations grip the station.

Tapestry
Picard is mortally wounded, and arrives in the afterlife, only to be welcomed by Q. Picard regrets decisions he had made earlier in his life that led to his eventual death, and Q offers him a second chance.

All Good Things
Captain Picard is shifting through three time periods: just before the Enterprise-D is sent on its mission to Farpoint station, the present, and 25 years in the future, when Picard has just been diagnosed with Irumadic Syndrome, a degenerative brain disease. Meanwhile, an anomaly appears in the past and present in the Neutral Zone that piques the interest of both Starfleet and the Romulans; the Enterprise is sent to investigate. On the way there, Q finally confirms Picard's suspicion that he is responsible for the time travelling and that the anomaly is related to the shifts

Death Wish
A suicidal Q threatens the future of the Q-Continuum after he requests asylum aboard Voyager.

The Q And The Grey
Voyager encounters several supernovas in a small region of space. It is soon revealed that they are the after-effects of a civil war within the Q-Continuum. Q appears and believes that the solution to the problem is for him to produce a child, and his mate of choice is Captain Kathryn Janeway. Matters are complicated when a jealous female Q appears claiming that Q was her boyfriend.

Q2
Q places his son in the care of Captain Janeway for a week, hoping that she will be able to teach him a sense of discipline. However, his powers and his recklessness endanger the crew and test Janeway's patience.

When it comes to naming fans favourite reoccurring character of the new generation of Star Trek shows one will come instantly into every Trekker's mind, Q.

When John de Lancie first appeared as the omnipotent being, 'Q' in the first episode of 'Star Trek: The Next Generation', a classic in the Star Trek universe was created. An almost God-like character with unlimited power and intellect, Q sees the universe as his playground and its inhabitants mainly as pawns in his mischievous games. Humans are his new playthings, as he thinks they are having too much of an influence on the galaxy and their confidence and spirit needs to be taken down a notch or two.

From his first appearance in the Next Generation, Q set out to cause trouble for the human race. In 'Encounter at Farpoint' he puts humanity on trail, with Captain Jean Luc Picard charged with all of the crime humanity had done to itself and the galaxy. After Picard proves our worth, Q tells the captain that he will be keeping an eye on humanity from now on and he really meant it. Over the seven seasons of the Next Generation, Q returned numerous times to play havoc with Picard and his crew. He offers to make Commander William Riker a Q in 'Hide & Q', loses his powers in 'Deja Q', thinks he has found a human Q in 'True Q', transports the crew of the Enterprise D into Robin Hood times in 'Qpid', speaks to Picard in the afterlife in 'Tapestry' and returns humanity to his court in 'All Good Things'.

His biggest influence comes when he introduces the crew of the Enterprise D to a foe that will have a major effect on the Star Trek universe, the Borg. In 'Q Who?' he punishes Picard for what he sees as over confidence by throwing them into the Delta Quadrant right into the same region as a Borg cube. This advanced meeting introduces the Borg to the Federation and starts a war that will continue throughout the Next Generation, onto the big screen in 'First Contact' and then onto 'Star Trek Voyager'.

When the Next Generation ended, Q moves into the Delta Quadrant to torment another Federation captain, Katherine Janeway and the crew of the missing starship Voyager. 'Death Wish', 'The Q and the Grey' and 'Q2' gave fans a more detailed insight into the structure of the Q Continuum, the community of Qs and the realm they inhabit. Q also popped up in 'Deep Space Nine' to have a fight with Commander Benjamin Sisko.

Q is justifiably a fan favourite from the Star Trek Universe. With all his episodes superbly written and pushing science fiction to the limits, it is John de Lancie's performance as the mischievous omnipotent being that makes him so memorable. There is not a better reoccurring character in the Star Trek Universe.

OVERALL

Gathering together the fan's favourite Q episodes is a great idea but you need to back them up with supplementary material. New interviews with John de Lancie, a fans look at the character or something would have made this a must buy DVD set for Trekkers but with these there is no point in buying the same episodes as they will already have in their collections.
