"No one went to prison"

In 2008 the financial market went into meltdown. Banks and financial institutions that had been in business for decades folded and $20 trillion had to be used by governments around the world to keep financial industry a float. With ordinary people losing everything and businesses going under, the questions of blame and why did this happen have to be asked but the big question is if anyone is going to pay for causing it?

The current state of the world economy is still in the doldrums and the average man and woman of the developed world are facing up to having to deal with the financial repercussions of this but what happened to all the people who caused the financial crisis of 2008?

Documentary filmmaker Charles Ferguson reveals the events that lead up to the crash and tries to answer the questions that everyone in the developed world has been asking about the financial crisis of 2008 that plunged the world into a recession with his Oscar winning film ‘Inside Job’. A tale of greed, corruption and power, this is a film that will have you enthralled and make you shout out the screen with disbelief at what the people who caused the crisis did and how they got away with everything.

There is not a person in the developed world that has not been affected by the results of the financial crisis of 2008. With governments having to bail out financial institutions around the world, all at the taxpayer’s expense, this has led to Government financial cuts to public service budgets and job loses, the necessity to increase taxes and changes to everyone’s way of life, except for the people who caused it, the bankers. While people lose their jobs, their savings and their homes, this documentary reveals that the people responsible for the current economic crisis are still earning huge salaries and even gaining bonuses from publically bailed out banks and financial institutions before taxpayers money is returned.

Narrated by Oscar winner Matt Damon, ‘Inside Job’ reveals the details of what happened before, what happened during and what is happening after the financial collapse in the US with mentions of how it affected the rest of the world in places like Iceland, England, France, Singapore and China. This is a fascinating insight into what happened and it is explained in such a way that the majority of people will be able to follow. While the documentary is filled with a few to many financial abbreviations, you do not need an economics degree to understand what the people responsible did.

Deserving of its ‘Best Documentary’ Oscar, ‘Inside Job’ is a fascinating watch and one that will have you shouting at the screen in frustration.
