"He's taken the Judge!"

Ian (Zuckerman) had never really had any luck with girls, even though his best friend Felicia (Crew) was one of them. That was until he met Ms. Tasty (Bowden) online. While the two had been instant messaging, Ian had managed to persuade her that he was a college football star who had dedicated his time to this studies and training, giving him no time to meet women. He had even mocked up a photo of him as the star of the team with his car, a Pontiac GTO called 'The Judge'. When she invites him to spend the night with her, however Ian's friend Lance (Duke) tells him to go for it but he will have to drive 500 miles from Chicago to Knoxville and steal his brother Rex's (Marsden) car, the fabled 'Judge' from the picture, to seal the deal.

Teen comedy movies can be cult hits for the generation they are aimed at but can 'Sex Drive' become one of those films?

Every decade there are movies that define what it is like to be a teenager and ones that resonate with those of us who are enjoying becoming young adults. Films like 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off', 'The Breakfast Club', 'Road Trip', 'American Pie' and more lately 'Superbad', have spoken to the teenage generation and have stayed with them for most of their lives. 'Sex Drive' tries to take the best of these and produce a movie that will talk to the teen generation and surprisingly, it works.

Based on the novel 'All the Way' by Andy Behrens, the film mixes the road trip/self discovery elements of 'Ferris Bueller' and 'Road Trip' and the crude, over the top humour of 'American Pie' and 'Superbad', 'Sex Drive' might not be the most original teen movie but it is certainly fun. This is a movie all about getting laid, the underlying, motivational plot device of many a teen comedy as Ian and his friends Felicia and Lance travel five hundred miles on the slight chance that Ian might just sleep with a gorgeous girl he met on the Internet. The premise is nothing new, with teenage boys doing anything to get their first sexual encounter and when you combine this the stalwart plot device of the road trip and you have a combination that should supply laughs, and the good news is that is does.

The teen comedy is a great way of starting your career. Actors and actresses like Emilio Estevez, Demi Moore, Matthew Broderick, Rob Lowe, Tom Hanks, Matthew McConaughey and many others have all made their names by starring in teen comedies, going onto have superstar careers. For Josh Zuckerman, Amanda Crew and Clark Duke this is their chance. As Ian, Felicia and Lance, the three young performers move into the limelight after starting in smaller roles on TV and in films. Three life young friends, the road trip see all of them grow and their relationship change forever. Zuckerman, Crew and Duke all have bright futures and are names we should be seeing a lot of in the future. Their support is also good with Teen movie graduate Seth Green, playing Amish farmer/mechanic Ezekiel and an hilarious turn from 'X-Man' James Marsden as Ian's older brother Rex, who loves his GTO Judge just as much as he like picking on his weakling brother.

'Sex Drive' is crude but fun road movie that, while it might not redefine the teen comedy, there is much to enjoy here. With a fun premise that provides plenty of laughs and a cast that really enjoys themselves, this is certainly one for the teen movie accolades of the 00s.
