"Fabulous"

Three years have passed and life goes on for Carrie (Parker), Samantha (Cattrall), Charlotte (Davis) and Miranda (Dixon). Samantha continues to manage Smith's (Lewis) career in Hollywood, Charlotte and Harry (Handler) continue to bring up their adopted daughter Lilly, Miranda and Steve (Eigenberg) make a real life for themselves in Brooklyn and Carrie and 'Big' decide to make a big step in their relationship, moving in together. Happiness does always stay in life however and the girls are going to realise that it isn't all sex in the big city.

Since the TV show ended in 2004, women have been pining for the return of one of their favourite programmes of all time and now Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are back and this time on the big screen.

One of HBO's most popular shows of all time, 'Sex and the City' became a phenomena with a legion of devoted fans all around the world, with most of them been female. What made the show so different was its honesty in its portrayal of New York women and the way they went about their lives. Based on the novel by Candace Bushnell the series follows four very different women with a love of big city life and fashion. Over six seasons we got to see the ups and downs of their lives, loves, jobs and families and in essence their lives became part of the viewers. All things have to end however but fans never actually found out what happened to Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda after that time in Paris.

Now just over four years since the end of the TV show and after numerous stops and starts 'Sex and the City' continues. Picking up three years after the events of the series, we discover that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda have moved on. Samantha is a Hollywood Agent, looking after the career of her boy toy Smith Jared. The problem is that she isn't really enjoying the West Coast life and hops over to New York every chance she gets. Miranda, Steve and Brady are getting used to family life in Brooklyn but Miranda is not getting used to being with Steve. Charlotte and Harry have got used to raising their adopted daughter Lilly but Charlotte is still as dizzy as ever. Carrie and Mr. Big's relationship takes another step forward in their relationship by moving in together but this leads to an even bigger step forward. With a slight recap of what happened during the series at the beginning, the film continues the story of the girls, with each of them having just as much attention as each other but with Carrie having the main storyline, as you'd expect.

All of the main cast member's return and step back easily back into their most famous roles. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon make you feel that Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda have been really living their lives since the show has been off the air. Each of them is superb in their roles, which will come as no surprise to fans of the show. With David Eigenberg as Steve, Evan Handler as Harry, Jason Lewis as Smith Jared, Willie Garson as Stanford Blatch, Mario Cantone as Anthony Marentino and of course Chris Noth as Mr. Big, the cast is complete and the movie is all the better for it.

While some might say this might have been better as a two-part TV special but bringing 'Sex and the City' to the big screen is the best thing HBO could have done of the millions of fans around the world. Seeing their heroines on the silver screen, continuing their story will bring a smile to their face from ear to ear. This is, however, one for the fans meaning people who have not seen the series will be the ones that get the most out of it and it is also extremely girly, so this is a film that boyfriends or husbands will probably hate. So gather your girlfriends together, wear your labelled dress, get hold of your designer handbag, drink a Manhattan and enjoy the movie.
