"It is your destiny"

Orphans Edward (Penn), Peter (Campbell), Lucy (Mays) and Susan (Chambers) come together after finding golden ticket inside Willy bars. Heading to the Chocolate factory the four find that Willy isn't as nice as they thought he would be and end up hiding from him in a wardrobe. The wardrobe leads to the magical world of Gnarnia, a world filled with pirates, talking beavers, mutants and an evil Ice Bitch (Coolidge) that wants to rule the world.

Every year brings a parody of the previous years hits and but 'Epic Movie' is even more scary than usual.

From the writers of 'Date Movie' and the 'Scary Movie' franchise comes the latest spoof film from their stable and it's the worst one yet. Taking most of the plot of 'The Chronicles of Narnia' with a large chuck of 'Pirates of the Caribbean', 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', 'X-Men', 'Nacho Libre' and with an added sprinkling of 'Superman Returns', 'Harry Potter' and 'Borat', this is filmmaking at its most basic. It is extremely hard to believe that anyone will find this funny but audiences must do because they keep making money.

Writers and directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have now become the pair that Hollywood turns to when they need the biggest films of the year parodied but while there was a little invention with the latter 'Scary Movies', the plot for this movie is non-existent. The simple plot of four orphans coming together as a family is just a way of linking the 'jokes' and the parodies of the movies together. That is basically it and what makes the movie completely appalling and almost unwatchable.

The performances are just as bad. For a talented comedic actor, Kal Penn is far above this type of movie and should sack his representation for even putting him up for his movie. Adam Campbell has now starred in two parody movies and hasn't gotten any better since 'Date Movie'. Jennifer Coolidge, Héctor Jiménez and Fred Willard need to start making better career choices, as they are better comedic actors than his. Jayma Mays and Faune A. Chambers are equally as bad as Lucy and Susan, especially with the annoying joke of Lucy just repeating everything Susan says for no apparent reason. There is also embarrassing appearances from Carmen Electra and David Carradine.

'Epic Movie' is lazy filmmaking and comedy at its most basic. How these movies make money is anyone's guess and it makes you wonder who actually finds these film funny. If you love movies, you will know better than to watch rubbish like this.
