EVENING HARDER

Kevin Smith, Jennifer Schwalbach Smith, Harley Quinn Smith and Jason Mewes

Director:
J.M. Kenny

239 mins

The cult director of 'Clerks', 'Mallrats', 'Chasing Amy', 'Dogma', 'Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back', 'Jersey Girl' and 'Clerks II' returns to the stage for another question and answer session. This time he leaves the confines of the US of A and heads north of the border to Canada and then across the Atlantic to the UK. With shows in Toronto and London, Kevin gets the chance to answer questions from his international fans and impart some more words of wisdom.

Anyone involved in the movie industry has to be a bit of a personality but there are some artists that have the star quality to be able to draw in an audience just to ask them questions. Kevin Smith is one of those people.

After the success of his first direct to DVD 'An Evening with Kevin Smith', the writer/director returns to the stage but this time he goes international. Travelling to Toronto, Canada and London, England he gives the chance for his fans to ask him about his films, career and sometimes his personal life. Each audience is about two hours long and offers a fascinating insight into the man himself, his friends and his family, some of which they may not want you to know.

Ever since he emerged on the scene with a bang in 1994 with the low budget comedy classic 'Clerks', Kevin Smith has been the epitome of the independent film movement for the last twelve years. Recorded before he announced and filmed 'Clerks II', he gets the chance to respond to questions about his critical and commercial disaster 'Jersey Girl' and talk his own feeling about the movie, working with Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez and the whole 'Bennifer' phenomenon that blighted the reception for the film and in some cases, its performance at the box office.

What these audiences with Kevin Smith allow fans to do is really get to know the man himself. He is very honest in his answers to the questions, in some cases too honest, making you feel like you are really getting to the man himself and the way he works. Kevin talks passionately about this films but he does get to talk about many other subjects as the questions from his Canadian and English audience.

Joined by Jay himself, Jason Mewes, 'An Audience with Kevin Smith' is an entertaining watch for any fan. The problem with any 'live' DVD release is the replay value and this suffers from really only been able to watch this once or twice but for fans of Kevin Smith this is a must add to their collection.
