"We have to get off the roller coaster"

Wendy (Winstead) never wanted to go on the roller coaster and as she got closer and closer to the front of the line she become more terrified. Her terror was justified however because as the coaster climbed up the first peak, things start to go wrong. As each car flies off the track, killing each passenger in increasingly horrific ways, death is only seconds away for Wendy but then she wakes up, just as she is been buckled in. Hysterical telling everyone it is going to crash, Wendy and many of the other passengers from her high school are thrown out by security but as they argue with the guards, the coaster crashes off the track, killing all of the remaining riders. Thinking they have survived, death never lets anyone escape their fate.

After the success of the original and its sequel, death hasn't quite finished with those who have cheated their way out of his icy grip but should we really be scared again?

Original director James Wong and his writing partner Glen Morgan return to the franchise and basically take you back to the first destination. The third movie is basically a rehash of the first film with absolutely no advance in story or offering anything new. Were the second film actually tried to do something slightly different with the premise, the second sequel is the same movie all over again.

The original writers had the chance to advance the story and explain some of the reasons why death actually chases the escapees down and kills them in such brutal ways, when it wasn't even their fault they survived. Just because one person had a premonition that they were going to die, why does this mean that the innocence bystanders who also survive have to die in increasingly gory ways? This was James Wong and Glen Morgan's chance to explain so much but instead they just give us the same story again.

The franchise returns to killing teenagers and each of them die in inventive and creative ways. The problem is the same as the sequel however the killings are unintentionally funny. As the survivors get picked off one by one, you just end up laughing as the blood covers the screen. The filmmakers try to inject some shock elements into it but they fail dismally.

Of the actors and actresses, only Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Wendy and Ryan Merriman as Kevin get any real screen time. The rest of the cast just get a little intro before meeting their fate, meaning you never really get involved at all. Both Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ryan Merriman are good but they deserve a lot better than this.

'Final Destination 3' is basically the first film all over again. The writers completely miss the opportunity to actually advance the story and just give us more of the same. Death might be coming but he shouldn't be killing teenagers but the people who got away with getting this made.
