"People call me Big Momma"

When Malcolm Turner's friend is killed in the line of duty, he decides to get involved with the case, even though he has taken a desk job at the FBI. To find out why he was murdered he has to go undercover as a nanny for the Fuller family but the only way he can do is to go in disguised as Big Momma.

Desperate for a hit movie, Martin Lawrence returns to the last character he had success with but he forgot that the character wasn't very good.

Back in 2000, Martin Lawrence had his biggest individual hit dressed as an old woman while on an undercover mission for the FBI. As Big Momma, he created a character that was clichéd and far too stereotyped to gain many laughs but somehow he managed to hit a cord with an audience. Now six years later, he had to don the disguise again.

Fitted out with the mask, wig and fat suit, Lawrence's Malcolm Turner goes undercover again to find out who killed his friend. To do this he has to become the nanny for the Fuller family. The father of the family has created a computer program that can crack the encryption of every US agency database, so it is up to Malcolm to find out who is funding his work. Along the way Big Momma has an impact on the Fuller's, changes them for the better and making them more of a family.

This light-hearted approach to a crime tale might have worked in the last movie but the sequel is just cringe worthy. For a comedy, the film is sadly lacking in laughs with Lawrence's approach to comedy never managing to even raise a smile. The sugary sweet family moments are truly vomit inducing, as Big Momma sorts out all of the Fuller's problems.

With the exception of the 'Bad Boys' movies, Martin Lawrence's films have never been anything to write home about. It is almost impossible to see what his appeal actually is. He is neither funny nor a good actor, making you wonder how he actually still has a movie career. As for the rest of the cast, none of them fair very well. You'd expect more from accomplished TV actors like Emily Procter and Mark Moses and upcoming young actresses Kat Dennings and Chloe Moretz.

'Big Momma's House 2' is another example of why sequels are a bad idea. Hollywood continues to scrape the bottom of the barrel and they can't get any lower with this movie. Martin Lawrence will you just stop!
