After totally destroying her Junior High Graduation, Lizzie McGuire (Duff) is relieved to be going on a trip to Rome before she starts High School. The Eternal City is the place where adventures can begin and Lizzie hopes that she can have one after the embarrassing, accident-ridden times she has been having lately. Her dreams come true when she meets Italian singing sensation Paolo (Gellman), who tells Lizzie that she looks like his missing singing partner Isabella and begs her to take her place.

Based on the characters from the popular Disney TV show, The Lizzie McGuire movie is a showcase for Hilary Duff's acting and singing talents.

A Cinderella tale that plays on every teenage girl's fantasy of falling in love and becoming famous, the movie does exactly was it sets out to do but is made slightly more palatable by the presence of the talented Miss Duff.

Hilary Duff has enough charisma and talent to hold your attention as accident-prone Lizzie, who struggles to fit in and be popular. With an animated version of inner-self saying what she really wants to say and a little brother, whose sole mission in life is to blackmail his sister, Lizzie's life isn't as typical as any other teenager. This is what makes the character likeable as she falls from one scrape into another.

There is good support from Adam Lamberg as life long friend Gordo, who is secretly in love with Lizzie. Alex Borstein as Miss Ungermeyer, the overly strict teacher with a passion for all things Rome and all your other favourites from the show are here as well.

The Lizzie McGuire Movie is exactly what young teenage girls will love. As for anyone else, Hilary Duff is talented and likeable enough to make the movie watchable but it is mainly for its target audience.
