Bob Dolman

Running Time:
94 mins

Lavinia (Sarandon) has the perfect life She has a huge house, a wealthy lawyer for a husband, two teenage daughters and the respect of the community. Suzette (Hawn) on the other hand was still living the dream of the rock star groupie. She lives in the poorer region of West Hollywood, has just had her boobs done and really needs some money. Thinking her old friend "Vinny" might be happy to see her after twenty years and that she might be good for some money, Suzette decides to go back to Phoenix to reunite with her best friend and remind of the days they were known as The Banger Sisters.

Life doesn't have to stop when you pass fifty is the main message of this movie, it's just a shame this movie doesn't get that message across.

The film just doesn't have enough to say. Hiding your past and becoming someone just to please others is a good concept but the movie leads you up to Lavinia's big revelation to her family, a secret that she has kept for twenty years but while the family is shocked at first, the whole thing is dealt with in five minutes and then the end credits roll.

Susan Sarandon and Goldie Hawn deserve much better material, as they are two fine actresses and give more to the script than it deserves. In fact this is Goldie Hawn's best role in a very long time but the lacklustre screenplay restricts her character's development. Geoffrey Rush is completed wasted in his supporting role and he sports an unbelievable bad American accent.

The movie isn't the worst you will ever watch, as it does have some moments that will raise a smile but by the end you will think that I haven't really seen anything that could ever be described as anything more than average.
