Paul (Lee) thought he had everything, a good job, a nice apartment and a fiancée, Karen (Blair) that everyone adored. But at his bachelor party he gets drunk with one of Tiki girl dancers hired by his best man Jim (Hatosy), only to wake up with her in his bed the following morning. If things couldn't get any worse, she only turns out to be Karen's cousin Becky (Stiles).

The big question that everyone who knows him will be asking while watching this movie is. What the hell is happening to Jason Lee's career?

The man who made a name for himself in independent film is trying to go mainstream and it is backfiring in a huge way. This is a romantic comedy that shackles his comic potential. Only once do we see the Jason Lee we know from films like Chasing Amy and Mallrats, as a mundane script that caters for the teenage, lovesick audience has strangled his coolness and comic timing right out of him. You might even enjoy this movie, as it is suitably soppy and not a bad romance comedy but Jason Lee is not a romantic leading man and for fans of the man's acting talent, this is a travesty.

Julia Stiles and Selma Blair, stalwarts of the genre, are fine in their roles but however much they try they can't do enough to take the emphasis away from Jason Lee's awkward performance. Support is also Ok from James Brolin as the wealthy Boss and future father-in-law and Shawn Hatosy is fine as best friend and sexual deviant Jim.

The script is basic and full of romantic comedy clichés. Offering nothing new to the genre and doing nothing to offend or make you laugh too hard, A Guy Thing struggles to be even memorable once it has finished.

For those of you who don't know Jason Lee, this is a nice rom-com that is an Ok date movie, but for those of you who like the actor, the movie only makes you think that Jason has sold out for the money or he has a really bad but very persuasive agent that needs to be fired.
