Been a Vermont State Trooper definitely has it's kicks. There is so little to do that pulling someone and playing pranks on them becomes the highlight of your day. Thorny (Chandrasekhar), Mac (Lemme), Rabbit (Stolhanske) and Jeff (Soter) are extremely good at this but they are not that good at actual police work and the authorities have noticed this by threatening to close them down.

US comedy troop Broken Lizard make their feature film debut with plaudits saying they are the new Monty Python. Are they? Definitely not.

The problem with this movie is that if you've seen the trailer then you have seen all the best jokes. This can be a major problem with comedy movies as the distributors try and raise your interest they give far too many of the best laughs away.

This movie is a classic example of how a trailer can completely ruin a film. This is a shame as the movie is ok. I would have enjoyed it a lot more if I hadn't seen the trailer. The performances are good and the group have comedic chemistry. There is also great support from a very funny but underused Brian Cox. The story, while simple, provides ample opportunity for the troopers to pull unsuspecting speeders over and play pranks on them and this is where the movie shines but these scenes are far too few.

Broken Lizard combines madcap antics and personable characters with ease but just don't have the surrealism and downright craziness to be called the new Monty Python. You can't make this comparison until you've seen them dressed as women, speaking in high pitch voices.
