After picking his brother Fuller (Zahn) up on the way home from college, he and Lewis (Walker) decide to have some fun to help fight the boredom of their journey. Using the car's CB radio, Fuller persuades Lewis to invent a phoney female persona 'Candy Cane' to see what kind of reaction they can get from the lonely truckers on the highway. After pulling in a trucker with the handle of 'Rusty Nail', the pair set him up on a fake date only to find out that he doesn't see the funny side and now he is out for revenge.

This is an old style thriller that hits more times than it misses. We've seen the situation before in Steven Spielberg's Duel and many other road movie thrillers but although this is very formulaic it still provides enough tension to make it a good popcorn movie.

The always-watchable Steve Zahn pulls the movie in to the good category with another fine performance and Paul Walker is slowly building a name for himself by getting away from the usual teen suspense movie. Leelee Sobieski looks as great as ever but never really has much to do and an un-credited Ted Levine (Buffalo Bill in The Silence of the Lambs) provides the menacing voice of 'Rusty Nail'.

Director John Dahl (The Last Seduction) keeps the tension high and the thrills aplenty in what is a good homage to many a thriller from the 70's. This is a great late night movie that will have you on the edge of your seat and even make you jump on the odd occasion.
