Jane (Owen) had heard stories of the boy who refused to grow up, Peter Pan (Weaver) all her life from her mother Wendy. But these where times of war and such childish things had to take second place to the reality of Germany's relentless bombing of London. You see, when her Father went away to war he made her promise she would be brave and look after her mother and little brother Danny. The problem is Captain Hook has other ideas and kidnaps her, thinking she is Peter's friend Wendy, in a plot to get revenge on Peter Pan.

The original Walt Disney Classic Peter Pan is one of my favourite animated movies. It had everything, great characters, a hero you wanted to be and one of the great all time literary villains Captain Hook. The story was complete and magical, so there was no need for a sequel. Steven Spielberg proved this with Hook.

The film was supposed to be one of Disney's increasing number of straight-to-video cash-ins on their classic feature length animation, but they deemed it good enough for a theatrical release. This means the animation isn't as good as it could have been, the movie is extremely short at 72 minutes and in essence, the plot is just a rehash of the original J.M. Barrie adaptation.

What it does have going for it is the characters. Captain Hook is and will always be a classic villain, Tinkerbell is still cute and Pan himself is as endearing as ever. The voices are spot on, sounding exactly like the original characterisations from 1953.

All in all, this is a pleasant little Kids movie that really didn't need to be made when a re-release of the original would have been a lot more welcome.
