JUST VISITING

Starring: Jean Reno, Christian Clavier, Christina Applegate, Malcolm McDowell and Tara Reid
Director: Jean-Marie Poire
Running Time: 88 mins
Certificate: PG

French Count Thibault of Malfete (Reno) is about to marry English Princess Rosalind (Applegate), but the evil Earl of Warwick has other plans. He pays a witch to cast a spell on the Princess so she kills the Count but things go disastrously and the potion is drank by the Count instead ending in him killing the Princess. Tormented by guilt and charged with murder he tells his faithful servant Andre (Clavier) to bring him a Wizard (McDowell). The says he can send him back through time to stop the tragedy but he ends up sending them to 21st Century Chicago.

Based on the 1993 French movie 'Les Visiteurs', this is a remake with a difference. It has the same director and lead actors. Jean Reno is a watchable as ever, taking to comedy very well and he has some good support in Christian Clavier. Malcolm McDowell is good, but very under-used and Christina Applegate and Tara Reid are nothing more than eye candy.

The fish out of water theme has been attempted many times before and this, while it introduces nothing new, is quite amusing. Certain scenes will raise a laugh and many others a smile, but it is not a movie that will stay in your mind for very long.
