HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION

Starring: Busta Rhymes, Bianca Kajlich, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Sean Patrick Thomas, Brad Loree and Jamie Lee Curtis
Director: Rick Rosenthal
Running Time: 89 mins
Certificate: 15

Dangertainment owner Freddie Harris (Rhymes) has come up with the ultimate Halloween Internet broadcast. Six college students are to spend the night in the childhood home of America's most brutal serial killer. With cameras positioned all over the house and on the contestants themselves, the Internet audience will see everything. The only problem is that this is Michael Myers's house and he doesn't like visitors.

This might be the eighth movie but nothing has really changed with the Halloween movies. Despite some character advancement with Halloween H20 in 1999, this new incarnation adds nothing new to the franchise and is just another chance for Michael to kill some teenagers.

Instead of taking a leaf out of the Friday 13th book and reinventing the series, as they did with Jason X, Halloween: Resurrection is just more uninventive nonsense. Director Rick Rosenthal, who directed the second movie, just goes with the usual. The murderer in the painted white William Shatner mask finds more ways to kill young people but he always comes back even when your sure you've killed and that just about sums up the plot.

The cast is filled with teen nobodies. You might recognise one from American Pie and one from Cruel Intentions but the rest must have thought this was their big break. Busta Rhymes has a very small part for a starring role and never really does anything with it.

This movie might have some appeal for Halloween and Michael Myers fans but I can't help thinking that even they might be disappointed with this effort as it is just more of the same.
