After a barrel of Toxic waste falls into a pond outside of Prosperity, Arizona, infected insects are fed to the spiders at the local exotic spider farm. Two weeks later as Chris McCormack (Arquette) comes home after 10 years, dogs, cats and even ostriches start disappearing. The town's Radio DJ Harlin Griffith (Doug) thinks it is the work of Aliens but the local sheriff Sam Parker (Wuhrer) son Mike (Terry) has different ideas.

A complete homage to the classic B-Movie monster films of the late 1950s, early 60s, the producer of Independence Day and Godzilla, Dean Devlin uses computer graphics to make Arach's attack. (The original title of the movie but it sounded too much like Iraq Attack so it got changed)

The movie doesn't have much of a plot and the characters are not the most developed in film history but this doesn't matter, as all you want to see is giant spiders attacking. This movie has its tongue well and truly planted in its cheek and you can tell as soon as the spiders make their first appearance. They swam and attack, taking food, the residents of the town, back to the female or just eating the people themselves. Yes the town folk die and their little pets too but all in over the top ways without any blood been spilt.

The special effects are abit of a mixed bag however. The tarantulas and smaller spiders are extremely good, but the jumping spiders and some of the other larger arachnids sometimes look abit too CG.

This all adds to the B-Movie feel on the other hand and takes nothing away from the fun factor. If you hate spiders then you're just abit of a wuss and probably won't go and see this movie anyway but for those of you who are abit braver you might see why people are scared of these creepy crawlies.
