DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE

Starring: John Travolta, Vince Vaughn, Teri Polo, Matt O'Leary and Steve Buscemi
Director: Harold Becker
Running Time: 89 mins
Certificate: 12

Ever since his Mum (Polo) and Dad (Travolta) got divorced, Danny has been in and out of trouble and constantly telling lies. Things get worse as his Mother marries Rick (Vaughn), a man who he does hates and certainly doesn't trust. After another argument Danny runs off and hides in Rick's car only to witness him kill someone and dispose of the body. When he reports it to the police, who he has had dealings with in the past, no one believes him as there is no evidence to be found. His Dad however, trusts his son is telling the truth and goes looking into Rick's past.

If you are expecting anything new here don't even consider buying a ticket, this is standard run-of-the-mill stuff with no surprises and no real passion. Travolta is on autopilot, Vince Vaughn is just not frightening and you just want to slap the kid. Thrillers are meant to be about tension and twisting plots but you know exactly what is going to happen as soon as you sit down. Steve Buscemi is a saving grace however and the only genuine character in the movie. You really believe he could be a criminal lowlife.

The trailer announces that the movie is from the director of the Al Pacino thriller 'Sea of Love', but that was over ten years ago and proves that the man in charge hasn't had a hit since then, which should tell you something about the film.

Dull, unoriginal and extremely predictable you be better off staying at home and causing your own domestic disturbance by smashing a plate, shouting at the cat or something just as mundane.
