1971, America is losing the Vietnam War. More and more young men are being drafted into a war they has no desire to fight in. Private Bozz (Farrell) is one of these, he wants out having spent more time in the stockade than he has in training. Forced to join a company of patriotic volunteers and draftees, Bozz soon starts making trouble for the whole platoon, causing division in the ranks. Things are about to get worse however, as the company are about to be sent to the Army's recreation of Vietnam in the jungle swamps of Louisiana, Tigerland.

Joel Schumacher follows Flawless by again choosing a lower budget movie to get himself back into the limelight after the diabolical Batman & Robin. Shot more in a documentary style, this is an extremely gripping character driven piece whose protagonists really grab you from the get go. Showing the true mentality of the less patriotic draftees, as the Vietnam War became a national embarrassment, this movie pulls no punches in its depiction of the US Army training environment and the sheer bewilderment of the recruits towards the entire situation. Colin Farrell who plays Private Bozz is a star in the making and along with the rest of this unknown cast gives performances that any major star would be proud of, making this movie a must see.
