October 1962, a U-2 spy plane routinely over flies Cuba and uncovers the deployment of intermediate nuclear missiles been installed on the island. This would give the Russians complete strike capability for the entire eastern seaboard of the United States. The US cannot let this happen and President John F. Kennedy (Greenwood) and his advisers have to formulate a plan that does not lead the world into a third world war.

This movie is just pure tension of the highest calibre. Based on recently released actual recordings made by the CIA of conversations in the White House during the crisis, this movie is fascinating viewing. Excellent performances, especially from Greenwood and Culp who play John and Bobby Kennedy with an uncanny accuracy, make this film both riveting and enlightening. Like Apollo 13, you already know the ending, but it is the journey that gets you there that makes this movie so intriguing. Finding out how close we all came to never existing is both a frightening and sobering thought, making this movie compulsive viewing.

Zelikow and Pierre Salinger), Documentary: "Roots Of The Cuban Missile Crisis", Documentary: "Bringing History To The Silver Screen", Deleted Scenes, Theatrical Trailer, Cast & Crew Biographies & Biographical Sketches
