THE PAROLE OFFICER

Director: John Duigan
Running Time: 95 mins

Probation Officer, Simon Garden (Coogan) witnesses a corrupt police detective murder an accountant, while following up on one of his cases. Framed for the killing, the only way Simon can clear his name is to get hold of the CCTV tape that recorded the crime. Unfortunately the tape is locked inside a safety deposit box, inside a bank, so he has to get help to break in from the ex-cons he put back on the straight and narrow.

Yes this is another British movie set again a crime backdrop, but is it pleasantly amusing. Never really delivering the really big belly laugh, it does manage to keep you chuckling away for most of its 95 minutes. Coogan make the jump from the small screen with ease, delivering a movie that can be considered as a good start and a much better effort than Harry Enfield’s dreadful Kevin & Perry Go Large. A good supporting cast and a few guest appearances make this one of the better British movies of this year.
