1933, Rick (Fraser) and Evie (Weisz) O'Connell are now married with an eight-year-old son, Alex (Boath). Now consummate archaeologists, Evie is drawn to an ancient Egyptian chamber that holds the bracelet of the Scorpion King (The Rock). Unbeknown to them, the reincarnation of Anck-Su-Namun (Velasquez) is trying to resurrect her love, Imhotep (Vosloo), because if he has possession of the bracelet, he will have the power to take over the world.

This movie is just pure entertainment from start to finish. Writer/Director Steven Sommers shows he is living up to, and even surpassing the reputation he gained from Deep Rising and The Mummy, to the point that he will soon be able guarantee a huge box-office, just because of his status as an expert big event movie director, like Cameron, Spielberg, and Lucas.

All the cast from the original return, for the next chapter, with a good story filled with reincarnation, epic battles, comedy, horror, and pace that is relentless for the entire two and a quarter hours. This is a big screen movie, a film that has to be seen at the cinema (Go see it at a UGC, the THX sound really adds to the experience). It does have its flaws, some of the SFX are abit dodgy, but these are easily overlooked and overshadowed by some amazing set pieces.

Taking over $68 million in two days in the US, this movie starts the summer movie season with a bang and sets a very high standard for the other pretenders to the biggest grossing movie crown. This is sequel that is every bit as entertaining as the first one and brilliantly continues the adventures of the O'Connell's, who are nearly getting to the point of keeping up with the Joneses.
