It's funny what fate can do. Two strangers (Cusack and Beckinsale) with the same Christmas present idea meet over the last pair of black cashmere gloves at Bloomindales in New York City. Both of them are in relationships but both become fascinated in the fact that for that night only, fate keeps bringing them back together. At the end of a truly wonderful night for the pair of them, she decides to let fate see if they ever meet again. Years pass and both of them are on the verge of marriage, but they still have the feeling that fate will intervene once again.

This is a great feel-good romantic comedy. John Cusack is always great in what ever he does and the beautiful Kate Beckinsale's star is well and truly rising. Good support comes from Jeremy Piven and Molly Shannon with Eugene Levy, Jim's Dad from American Pie, stealing the show with a great cameo performance. With a good story that has a very Sleepless in Seattle feel, and the fact all the characters are very likeable and not too over the top, it challenges the usual romantic comedy stereotypes and adds a little spark of intelligence into the mix.

This is a great date movie for anyone who wants to have a good start to a romantic night out. I guarantee that you will be holding hands when you leave the cinema.
