After the tragic death of her mother, Sara (Stiles) is forced to move in with her estranged father. Now living a prominently black neighbourhood, she tries to fit in, learning the language of the street, the attitude and the music and dance styles. As she struggles, the brother of her new best friend gives her help. As Sara and Derek (Thomas) get closer, he reawakens her passion for the ballet and gives her the chance to for fill her dream of getting into top American ballet school, Julliard.

This movie is a Flashdance and Dirty Dancing combination for the new millennium that never really re-ignites the genre. You know what is going to happen in the end as soon as the movie starts and it is even very predictable the way it gets there. Even though the movie did extremely well over in the US, I don't think it will do the same here, as we have our own rags to riches ballet story, the extremely good Billy Elliot. This is still another good date movie that should appeal to the younger viewer.
