Jimmy (Nesbitt) and Rudy (James) have known each other since childhood and they have never been out of trouble. Their latest crime, a bank job goes disastrously wrong and the two end up serving 12 years. When Jimmy is transferred to the same prison as Rudy, five years into their stretch, the two come up with a plan to escape. The only problem is that the plan involves them putting on a musical in the old prison chapel but that means they have to talk their fellow prisoners into taking part.

The much-heralded directorial fellow-up to the Full Monty by Peter Cattaneo is missing all the charm and warmth his last picture had in bucket loads. The movie just plods along at a really dull pace, with very few laughs and little to hold your attention. This is a real shame as the cast is very good and they do the best with what they are given. Its just a shame they weren’t given anything of any substance. What we end up with is a good premise that is never utilised to its full potential, which is a shame.
