LEGALLY BLONDE

Starring: Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis and Jennifer Coolidge

Director: Robert Luketic

Running Time: 97 mins

Elle Woods (Witherspoon) thought see had everything. She was the most popular girl at college, the Homecoming Queen, the head of her sorority and see was about to be proposed to by the best looking man in School. When the proposal turning into a dumping, she finds out that Warner (Davis) has to marry a more sensible east coast girl, not the bubbly blonde fashionite that Elle so typifies. Coming up with the perfect plan to win him back, Elle follows him the Harvard Law School, where she plans to show how sophisticated she can be.

This film shows that Reese Witherspoon, as she did in the excellent Election, has the screen presence to carry a movie. Besides from being very good-looking, she has something about her that really draws in your attention and makes you sit up and watch. The problem is that it is only her presence that drags this movie out of the doldrums of mediocrity. Deriving itself from every beautiful-girl-done-good movie of the 90s, this film is nothing new but it is still quite watchable. The supporting cast never really do much to endear themselves to you, but the movie is not about them, it is plain and simply a show cast for Reese Witherspoon. Lets just hope this movie, after it's box office success in the States, propellers her into the superstardom she so rightly deserves.
