Jimmy Bly (Pardue) is having the best rookie season ever in the history of World Championship C.A.R.T. Only four points behind the current Champion Beau Brandenburg (Schweiger), he could be the first ever rookie to win the championship. The problem is, all the off track attention is not what he was expecting. His manager Demille, who is also his brother, is trying to get Jimmy's face everywhere and after one promotion followed by another, it is starting to affect his driving. Team owner Carl Henry (Reynolds) has to take action, so he brings back seasoned veteran Joe Tanto (Stallone) to help Jimmy win the title.

Making an event movie about motor sport just doesn't work, look at Days of Thunder. The only way you can get the viewers attention is to have crashes, the only problem is that they are so over the top that they are totally unbelievable. The special effects let them down, looking like they used techniques from the stone age of digital effects. All of the CGI effects have a really bad shine about them that makes them stand out from the backgrounds.

As with Days of Thunder, the cast is good but never really given anything too challenging. Burt Reynolds is wasted, giving a fine performance but very under used. Estella Warren is the perfect eye candy, but as with Planet of the Apes, we still never find out if she can really act or not.

What we are left with is a very disjointed movie that comes across as just an advertisement for C.A.R.T., Formula 1's cheaper American ran cousin.
