World famous doctor, John Dolittle (Murphy) is asked by the River Bank Family, headed by the God-Beaver, to come with a scheme to save their forest from a Logging company. The plan he comes up with is to find an endangered species that lives in the forest. His answer comes in the shape of a very rare pacific western bear called Avy. She is the last of her kind living in the area, so if Dolittle can find her a mate and they start a family, the forest can't be cut down. The problem is that the only male pacific western bear he can't get hold of is a circus performer named Archie (Zahn), who has never even seen the wild.

This is one of those movies were all the best gags are shown in the trailer and the main feature never really rises above anything that you have already been shown. Murphy does get the chance to show off his comedy skills abit more than he did in the original, but the lack lustre script only really manages to raise smile. The animals are again the stars, with funny turns from Archie and the chameleon but this is not enough to bring you the huge belly laughs the trailer promised.
