Blow Dry

Starring: Alan Rickman, Natasha Richardson, Rachael Leigh Cook and Josh Hartnett

Director: Paddy Breathnach

Running Time: 97mins

When the British hair dressing championships come to Keithley, local hairdressers Phil (Rickman) and Shelly (Richardson) try to put their ten years of separation, due to Shelly running of with Phil's hair model Sandra (Rachael Griffiths), and enter the competition and beat fierce rival Ray (Bill Nighy).

Based on a script by Simon Beaufoy, the writer of The Full Monty, you'd be right in expecting abit more from this movie, but you would be extremely disappointed. Even with a really good cast, the material they have to work with is very limited and lacks the potential you'd expect the movie to have. Why young American star Hartnett and Cook agreed to start in it are beyond me and Hartnett's South Yorkshire accent is nearly as good as Keanu Reeves' attempt at a British accent in Bram Stoker's Dracula. SO what you have in the end is really just a missed opportunity.
