1942, Nazi submarines are wreaking havoc in the Atlantic, sinking countless Allied ships. When one of these U-boats is damaged in battle, the US Navy send out a special-ops crew to incept the submarine and steal the Nazi Enigma code machine, the source of the Germany supremacy in the on going battle for the Atlantic.

This is an old style classic war movie, filled with a brave do-or-die attitude you expect from the people fighting in this most horrific of wars. A great ensemble cast including Matthew McConaughey, Harvey Keitel and Bill Paxton, treat the subject matter with an air of dignity and realism you expect from modern produced war movies. A fast paced movie that grips you from the off making it seem you are living the situation with these young men, as the sound and visuals encapsulate you. While this is no way another “Private Ryan”, it still has the energy and old style purity to make it a great movie. Yes it was the British who stole the Enigma and the movie acknowledges this, but this film never sets out to say it is a factual piece but it is good entertainment that gives you a sense of what it must have been like to be in that situation.
