The Gulf War is over and Archie Gates (Clooney), Troy Barlow (Wahlberg), Chief Elgin (Ice Cube) and Conrad Vig (Jonze) want to make some money before they go home. After finding a map to the hidden Gold, stolen from Kuwait by Saddem Hussian they set of to find it and make themselves as rich as kings.

This is one of those rare movies that is a makes you laugh and then shocks you all within the same breath. The horror of the after effects of a war and what it does to the civilians is shown in a very realistic way, with a comic underbelly that never really passes the mark of getting into bad taste. What is gives you is a great movie that shows that George Clooney can carry a film, with his second great movie (the first was the brilliant Out of Sight) after the disaster that was Batman & Robin.
