Set in the future, Battle Royale outlines the problem of discipline, as the children of the modern world loose all respect for adults. The Government takes extreme and drastic measures and implements the “Battle Royale” rule. This involves the children being taken to a desert island and being forced to participate in cold blooded and chilling competition, eliminating each other one by one...

It’s sick, is sadistic, it involves children killing each other. A recipe for brilliance. Had this film been made in Hollywood, it would have lost it’s atmosphere, and would’ve been thrown into the bargain bin with all other cheap horror B movies. But the Japanese have a knack for bringing out the best in violence, and they prove it once again with this masterful and powerful movie. The only problem is...do you read the subtitles or watch the killing sprees?
