Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire director Mike Newell has talked exclusively to The Z Review about the up coming 4 year at Hogwarts. Here is a snippet...
Are you surprised at how good these kids have become as actors?
Newell: Slightly, yes, I am. I was… there were two things that surprised me about them, one is that these are films like no other in which, you know… this is not like Mary Poppins. In the end Mary Poppins, it may be a film for children but it certainly isn’t a film about children, it’s about the adults, whereas this is not that at all, this is a film that ism for and about kids. They are simply the stars. You know when I look at this, um, schedule of these interviews that I’m doing today, Daniel Radcliffe comes first, Emma Watson comes second, Rupert Grint comes third and only then do I come… (Laughter)

Acclaimed British television helmer David Yates (State of Play, The Way We Live Now) has officially been signed to direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it has been announced by Warner Bros.
Best known for his work on British Television, BAFTA winner Yates is the fourth director to take charge of a Harry Potter movie. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be produced by David Heyman from a screenplay by Michael Goldenberg (Where the Wild Things Are, Peter Pan). Production on the film is expected to begin in England in January 2006.
Coming Soon has posted comments made by producer David Heyman about the appointment...
"I am thrilled that David Yates is going to direct 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,'" Heyman said. "Not only does he have tremendous passion for the world of Harry Potter, but he is a great director with a keen visual sense who fills every frame with humanity and compassion for his characters."
"We've been fortunate to have worked with very talented directors on the first four Harry Potter films," Robinov added, "all of whom have brought these extraordinary stories to life with their own unique creative vision. We're looking forward to continuing that tradition with David Yates on 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.'"

More casting news from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and this time it is the big one. Even though we shouldn't mention his name Lord Voldemort has been cast and it is Ralph Fiennes who has been chosen to bring the most evil wizard in the world to life. No stranger to playing villains (Red Dragon, Schindler's List), Fiennes is the ideal choice to play Harry's nemesis and this will be the first time we have seen Voldemort in the flesh after only feeling his presence in the previous three movies.
In other casting news Miranda Richardson (Blackadder, The Hours, Sleepy Hollow) has been cast as journalist Rita Skeeter, Brendan Gleeson (Troy) joins as Hogwarts' new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Mad-Eye Moody, Frances De La Tour is to be Madame Maxime, Headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, Roger Lloyd-Pack (Only Fools and Horses) plays Barty Crouch, Head of the Department of International Magical Cooperation and Jeff Rawle plays Amos Diggory.

JK Rowling has given a reading of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the Edinburgh Festival and which she held a Question and Answer session that revealed a few secrets. Here is a snippet...
Out of all your books, which one is your favourite?
It varies. I would have to say that it is probably Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, although at the moment—it is unfair of me to say it—Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is my favourite book. Sorry. I am the only one who has read it and I think it is rather good. I am normally like this when I write a book. Usually when I am just over halfway I normally love it, but by the time I finish it I completely despise it and think it is worthless rubbish. At the moment, I really like how the sixth book is going. A lot happens in the sixth book and a lot of questions are answered. I really have a sense that we are nearly there and it is time for answers, not more questions and clues, although obviously there are a few clues as I am not quite finished yet. I hope that that is sufficiently frustrating for you, knowing that you can’t read it yet!
