2003

The annual Empire Film Awards have just been announced. Hosted by Richard E Grant, the ceremony took place at the Dorchester Hotel in London with a star studded guest list including Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee, Cate Blancett, Benicio del Toro, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, Andy Serkis and James Van Der Beek. Of the many highlights of the reader voted awards was the hilarious acceptance speech UK comedian Johnny Vegas gave on behalf of Kirsten Dunst, who couldn't be there to pick up her best actress award. Johnny also stood in for Nicole Kidman at last years awards.
The award speech of the night had to go to Dustin Hoffam, who was recieving the Empire lifetime achievement award. It lasted thirty-five minutes and included two dirty jokes and a comic interlude with Johnny Vegas, who Dustin had really taken a shine to. I hope this gets posted on the web as it is so funny.

Anyway here are the winners and it was a big night for Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise with Minority Report...
